I know how to make combo and listbox's and it would be simple enough to do if theįorm had a record source but it doesn't as explained above.All I'm trying to do is that when field 1 is populated then field 2 auto populates. So thats why I use the DLookup (for only the SAP_No) to compare to that which is being input So, I'm not following what your saying, the Form itself does not have a "Record Source", its not supposed to. Looking at past records isĮlsewhere in the database by design. This is setup so no one can look at past records because there's no need for that. The Subform opens a "NewRecord" for data input. In reply to your last post, The Parent form is not looking up a record. I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear in my question. SAP numbers that use this EqSufx of AUG that reside in the same equipment list table. For the 1st field the SAP_No lets say is "10099006" the EqSufx for this number is "AUG" because this piece of equipment is an Auger, so the subform it is using for input data corresponds to the measurement points on this Auger. the EqSufx determines the Subform to use for that SAP_No.Įxample. The DLookup is looking at the equipment list table of what already exists. The DLookup for the SAP_No is only varifing that the number entered into the 1st field isĪ number that exists. It is only used to load the correct subform. Ok, How am I doing this? How am I passing on the correct EqSufx to populate that field.įor clarification I need to stress that this form is NOT creating any records. Here is the Table name: EquipmentListWithSufixT The 1st field I input one of the 1200 (SAP_No) values and I need the corresponding value from the These 6 values are split up among the 1200. There are only 6 (EqSufx) values (2nd field). In the table I have over 1200 (SAP_No) unique values (1st field). What I would like to do with the next field instead is have it populated automatically with a value that is detemined If it does then the next field becomes available for input. I then use the DLookup to validate that this value exists. The two fields or controls i'm using are unbound. I've read several posting on this question on the intenet and so far I'm unable to come up with a solution that
